TEA & CONVERSATION!

So ... let's meet on Tuesday after the fourth pair! We'll be in Room 2, hoping to catch up with you to share summer experiences and hopes for the new school year.

We will try meeting weekly through October 10. On September 26, we hope to include our three guests from the USA -- Jesse, Tracy, and Esther Mae.

Bring your own ideas for themes and Hangperson words; we'll bring some ideas, too. See you soon!

PS: Evening students! We'll be meeting at the Quest Cafe "4 Rooms" as well. Friday, September 16, and Friday, October 6, 7 p.m.

Both Judy and I are sick, so we're taking the day off. Our class is scheduled to meet again tomorrow (Friday), second pair, and we plan to do so. We'll let you know if we have to cancel again tomorrow....

Tea is also canceled today, but we plan to have it next week at the normal time and place.

• Group 401 meets at 13:05 (fourth pair). Check bulletin board for location.
• Our weekly tea follows the fourth pair. ALL Institute students are welcome. Room 12.

Tea with Johan and Judy ... Tuesdays during our current visit

We want to see you and talk with you! Judy and I will be at the Institute on Tuesday, April 28, and possibly some of the following Tuesdays as well depending on interest.

We'll be there after the end of the fourth pair, about 2:40 p.m. We'll post the location on the main bulletin board.

We want to know what you're working on, what you hope to do this coming summer and next year, and so on. You can ask us questions, too. If we have time, we can play Hangperson or Dixit.

Groups 201-204 Tests May 22 and 28

Are you familiar with the test blanks used for the exam? I will be using them for our tests in case you need some practice using them. (Don't laugh; every year, some students put their answers in the wrong places.) Here are the blanks (at least for now) as shown at the official site:

At the official site, there is also a registration form, but we won't use that; you will write your name and group number at the top of each answer blank.

Thursday: We meet at last!

Greetings to students of Institute groups 501 and 502!!

Judy and I are looking forward to our first class together on Thursday. See you in Room 9!

Our class will emphasize listening comprehension, using audio texts from both British and American sources (and occasionally others), along with many opportunities for conversation in class. There will be very little homework; in return, we expect full attendance and lots of hard work in class!! We hope it will be useful and enjoyable--and to help make it so, we will be eager to hear what areas and topics you are especially hoping to cover during our year together.

For my ЕГЭ classes: Final tests began Friday!

Here is the schedule for the final tests of the 2011-12 year for my School classes:

Groups 204 and 205:

• Reading, writing, and lexicon: Friday, May 18
• Grammar and listening comprehension: Friday, May 25

Groups 201 and 202:

• Reading, writing, and lexicon: Monday, May 21
• Grammar and listening comprehension: Monday, May 28

Group 206:

• Reading, writing, and lexicon: Wednesday, May 23
• Grammar and listening comprehension: Wednesday, May 30

Please let me know if you cannot come on your "normal" day and need to take your test with another group, or privately.

• Today (Monday, May 7), our School groups (201 and 202) meet as usual.
• Wednesday's group (206) meets on Friday at 6 p.m. in Room 16. We'll follow the same schedule next week. If you'd prefer to meet with one of my other groups (Monday 4:30 or 6:00; Friday 3:00 or 4:30), it's fine with me.
• Friday's groups (205 and 204) meet at our usual time.

Those of you who are able to come on Monday, welcome to the first of our (we hope) weekly tea sessions at 2:45 p.m. in room 13. We know Mondays are awkward for some of you, but this year I have classes every Wednesday and Friday at 3 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays I have other scheduling conflicts.((

Aside from Monday, we will see some of you on Thursday.
